A university with its own wharf is bound to be romantic and beautiful.
Next to the northern gate archway of the South Campus of Sun Yat-sen University in Guangzhou, there is a wharf named after the university. From here, you can take a boat westward to reach Tianzi Wharf, or eastward to reach Haixinsha Park. Tradition and modernity unfold gently along these two routes, converging at Sun Yat-sen University Wharf. The blend symbolizes the essence of this century-old institution: upholding tradition while fostering innovation.
One of the symbols of Sun Yat-sen University, the archway in front of the wharf, is in fact a replica; the original archway stands at South China University of Technology"s Wushan Campus. In the early years of the People"s Republic of China, Sun Yat-sen University relocated from the Wushan area to this location, and the newly established South China University of Technology inherited the archway from it. If you take a leisurely walk around SCUT, take a moment to pause and experience the history of university evolution carried by that archway.

一所拥有码头的大学，一定是浪漫而美丽的。
在中山大学广州校区南校园的北门牌坊旁，有一座以中大命名的码头。从此登船，向西可达天字码头，往东可到海心沙公园。传统与现代在这两条航线上徐徐呈现，共同汇聚于中大码头，似乎象征着这座百年学府守正创新的本色。
作为中大的标志之一，码头前的牌坊其实是复制品，原牌坊在华南理工大学五山校区。新中国成立初期，中大从五山一带迁来这里，新组建的华工便继承了中大牌坊。假如你漫步华工，不妨驻足停留，感受一下那座牌坊所承载的大学变迁史。
